On January 1, 2006, my life was forever changed when this little girl was born. She put us "on the map" as a breeder of quality Norwich Terriers. She was the first to have a win at a Specialty, and the first to receive a Group Placement. And that was just the beginning. We put over 100,000 miles on my vehicle. Phoenix and I spent a lot of time together, just the two of us. We are the best of friends. She has given me more than I can ever give her. She opened a door to a whole new world for me.
Pictured at right is Phoenix winning Best of Opposite Sex at the National Specialty in October of 2008.
Phoenix's first significant win was at the Norwich Terrier Club of America National Specialty in 2006. She was barely 9 months old. Three shows later she earned her championship, and the next day placed in the group. Many more group placements followed, including 5 group wins, a BOS at Westminster, Eukanuba, and the Norwich Terrrier Club of America National Specialty. In 2007 and 2008, she ranked in the Top Ten in Breed and All Breed Points all of these wins were with me as her handler. This is no small feat for a breeder owner handler, especially one who had taken an almost 10 year hiatus. When I reappeared in 2006, no one remembered me. For all practical purposes I was a newbie. It is not often that a bitch likes to show as much as she did. I can't say she did not have her moments, but she never, ever, quit on me in the ring. Quite to the contrary, she was sometimes a little too enthusiastic!. |

In December of 2007 Phoenix and I flew across the country to Long Beach and the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Show. She won Best of Opposite and Best Bred by Exhibitor. She always loved the judge, Ms. Peggy Biesel McIlwaine, and was trying to give her a kiss. Well, it never hurts to have friends in high places, right, Phoenix? In December of 2007 Phoenix and I flew across the country to Long Beach and the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Show. Agility Career
In August of 2007, Phoenix began training in Agility, while simultaneously showing in the Conformation ring. Her coat was very short that year and the chances at the Specialty were slim, so we spent time preparing for the above Agility Trial. She had only had a few Agility Classes. She managed to earn her first "Q" in Jumpers that weekend. She completed her NJP title in December of 2007 at the Cleveland Crown Classic. Never a dull moment with my girl!

Thanks to the encouragement of my dear friend, Debby Wilson, in February of 2008 we flew to New York City for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog show. I never thought I would be walking into that ring at that show with a dog I had bred. We were one of the few owner handlers in that ring, under the esteemed terrier judge, Mr. Peter Green. What an unforgettable day! Phoenix went Best of Opposite Sex.

Motherhood
2011 brought a new season to Phoenix's life, motherhood! Pictured above are the two male puppies out of CH Abbedale Brass Tacks. She is the dam of two other litters. You can find information about them on the pages Glinda and Vegas. Phoenix was a wonderful mother and as good of a producer as she was a show dog. All four of her puppies finished. Three of them have had significant wins. Two of them have had multiple group placements and one of them has had a Best in Specialty Show, two All Breed Best in Shows, and two Reserve Best in Shows, and 25 group wins.

Retirement - Phoenix lived the life of leisure after her last litter in 2012.
We went to shows and even though she did not hear well, she always knew when the RV pulled in to be loaded up.
Sadly, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Gone but never forgotten.
Rest In Peace, Sweet Girl, we had a good run.
